El País de Nomeacuerdo (I don’t remember land), HD Video 10:09
Horochowski explores memory and loss in a video documenting her Ukrainian-Argentinian father, a retired surgeon, and the olive orchard in Los Molles, Córdoba, Argentina that he has tended for the past 27 years.
In the video, Horochowski juxtaposes the topography of an unmade bed, site of origin and death, with the landscape of the olive orchard. For the artist, geologic time is represented through Methuselah, a 5,000-year-old bristlecone pine, believed to be the oldest living being on Earth, that she visited while on an artist residency at Forest Island Project, Mammoth Lakes, California.
